A Message to my Constituents:
On December 3rd, I was invited to and attended a meeting the purpose of which was to defuse the tensions that had surrounded the issue of whom to select as President for Cuyahoga County Council.
Subsequently, the meeting has become a source of negative publicity because many believe the meeting violated the spirit of transparency and openess most residents desired when they voted overwhelmingly for the passage of Issue 6. This was not my purpose in attending the meeting.
Furthermore, I will redouble my efforts during my tenure as Councilman for District 8, to maintain not only the spirit of transparency and openess all good citizens of Cuyahoga County desire, but the legal and moral obligations the spirit imposes upon us all.

Hello, welcome to my website! I am a small businessman and have been a resident of Cuyahoga County's newly formed District 8 for most of my life. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Business Management in 1992 I joined our family business, the Pernel Jones and Sons Funeral Home.

I am a member of the Ward 5 Democratic Club and am Precinct Committeeman in Precinct H. I am a Deacon at St. Timothy Baptist Church, and have served on the Boards of the Weed and Seed Initiative, the Faith Community Credit Union and the Fairfax Business Association.
As your County Councilman I intend to concentrate on the following 4 priorities:
I. Work to create jobs and economic development by:
1. Pushing for workforce development through training and working with local employers to help ascertain the skills they expect from the workforce;
2. Encourage and facilitate the establishment of good job training programs.
3. Continue to support and enhance programs such as Ohio Works First (OWF);
4. Support and encourage innovative projects such as wind power, that have the potential to revitalize certain sectors of our economic base.
II. Maintain the County's fiscal integrity
1. By managing the work of county government efficiently;
2. Keeping a balanced budget and close control over costs.
III. Maintain the social support system
1. For moderate and low income families moving towards self-sufficiency;
2. continuing services for the homeless;
3.Continue rental assistance to low-income families(PRC)
IV. Support and enhance the County Landbank efforts to eliminate vacant structures
1. Provide mortgage assistance to families in foreclosure
